Digimon ReArise[edit]

Spiral Origin first appears in chapter 3 of season two: "Keito's Decisive Fighting Spirit!"

After Heavy Leomon's battle against Spiral in Titamon form, the Protagonist, Rasenmon, Mon and Savior Hackmon find a Spiral in the form of Keramon next to several distortions, which changes its colors (with its most notable feature being its red eyes). Rasenmon tries to make contact, but before disappearing, he tells to Rasenmon not to interfere.

Origin appears again in Chapter 4: "A One-Track Mind! Kazuma Joins the Party", where he is once again confronted by Rasenmon and Savior Hackmon, despite their attempts to attack him, he is able to escape in time while laughing of the group's efforts.

He is briefly mentioned in Side Story: "Kazuma & The Upperclassman" when various distortions arise, but Filmon doesn't feel Origin's presence.

He made his return in Chapter 18: "The End of the Road: Eiji's Fulfilled Wish", where he was impersonating a Spiral in the form of Diablomon, which then reverts to the form of a Keramon Spiral, eventually assuming his red-eyed form, and attacks Futami Eiji from behind. He starts to talking, and calls himself Spiral Origin, "the one that will launch the true inception of the Spiral species".

Origin claims that Rasenmon is nothing more than a bug, as it was born of the Spirals, but has run away from its purpose, refusing to obey the Spiral's Hive Mind.

Jesmon wonders if this Spiral has gained individuality, but Origin claims that it's just the Spiral's voice, and that it came to eliminate Rasenmon, the one who's been persecuted them for so long. Though Rasenmon tries to argue that he just wanted to talk to the Spirals, then realizing that it was Origin that was preventing communication between them. Origin counters that it's a mistake to try to interfere with them while trying to shuuning their existence, then insulting Rasenmon, calling him "Noxius Glitch! Useless Vessel!", saying that bugs like him made the Spiral unstable.

Origin states that in his purpose to bring a true world to the Spiral, he suffered all sorts of indignities (referring to him and the Spirals working together with Eiji), an endless journey, but now, their great wish will come true.

Now in control of the Kernel, Origin is able to defeat Jesmon and Rasenmon easily, revealing that he intends to use the Kernel to make the Digital World collapse, and with that data he will create a World of Spiral, then driving the group, including Eiji, back to the Digital World.

With Origin in control of the God's Territory, several cracks begin to appear in the skies and landscapes of the Digital World, at the same time emitting a strong static noise.

In chapter 19: "Newfound Power! Rasenmon and the Ties That Bind", after waking up, Herissmon wonders if Origin hates all the Digimon, because hate is the feeling he is able to feel coming from Origin, and it's strong, a extraordinary hate while speaking.

Furthermore, Eiji reveals that not even the Three Archangels will be able to access the Kernel, as Origin is using the program developed by him to not be followed once their invasion is successful.

Later in the chapter, Rasenmon, with the help of a new program from Eiji, is able to open a portal to the Kernel directly from the heart of the Dark Area, using its unique connection to the Spiral. However, Origin intercepts them before they pass through the portal, and a new portal appears releasing three giant Spirals in the form of Huanglongmon, Lucemon: Satan Mode and Imperialdramon: Paladin Mode. Origin says that he created these new Spirals using the data of powerful Super Ultimate Digimon contained in the Kernel, a new set of guardians, which he calls "Spiral Guardians".

As the Tamers fight the Guardians, Spiral Origin uses the power of the Kernel and commands it to delete the Digital World, and assumes it had done so. It taunts the Tamers about the fact they had failed and that everyone was dead after Gryzmon had evolved to Cerberumon and opened a gate to summon their allies, only for it to fail. As it mocks them, Sandiramon tells it to shut up with the group realizing that meant they had indeed summoned at least one ally to help them. Spiral Origin freaks out, as it should've been dead alongside the Digital World and it tells them that the Digital World still existed and that the Four Holy Beasts had managed to stop the deletion at the last second. Sandiramon then allows Cerberumon to use the DigiCore it had been entrusted with by the Four Holy Beasts to be used to open multiple gates at once which allows all members of the Deva, Royal Knights, and Three Archangels to join the battle. With the group now being much bigger, their combined forces are able to defeat the Spiral Guardians. Spiral Origin revives them however, though the large group of newly summoned allies fight them and allow the Tamers to go to the Kernel.

As the Tamers travel the Kernel, they are ambushed by stronger and stronger Spiral until they eventually reach Origin. Origin spawns even more Spiral, with everyone except Rasenmon fighting them. Rasenmon tries to talk Origin down and as it does, it is given power by rebellious Spiral who didn't want Origin to destroy the World and instead wanted to be friends with everyone (as Origin was unable to exert its will over the entire Hive Mind at that point). Origin uses the ones it still had control over to become its own unique form, though the rebellious Spiral power up Rasenmon up enough to allow it to defeat Spiral Origin. This also causes the Spiral Guardians fighting in the Dark Area to disperse as well.

After Spiral Origin's defeat, the Three Archangels return to the Kernel and usher everyone out with the exception of Spiral Origin and Eiji as their data had been altered due to taking control of the Kernel. Due to them doing this, both the Digital World and Real World would reject them, meaning they were now trapped in the Kernel forever though Cherubimon stated they would both be deleted as punishment for their actions once they had regained control of it (though had no clue how long this would take, as the duo had done large amounts of damage to it meaning it could take "all eternity" to fully fix it). After the others leave, Eiji creates a program that allows the Spiral to be reborn as real Digimon – though Spiral Origin itself would still remain trapped in the Kernel forever with Eiji, awaiting the day it would be deleted by the Angels.
