The Crest of Courage (勇気の紋章, Yūki no Monshou), also referred to as the Crest of the Sun (日輪の紋章, Nichirin no Monshou)[1], is one of the nine Crests. It is engraved with a stylized sun pattern.

Digimon Adventure[edit]
The Crest of Courage was the first Crest obtained by the Chosen Children, discovered in DA15 at the end of a secret escape passage in the Server Continent Koromon village. It was collected by its rightful owner, Yagami Taichi, and was first activated in DA20, allowing Agumon to super-evolve into Metal Greymon and defeat Etemon. Its physical form was later destroyed by Apocalymon, and in May 2000 Taichi surrendered its power to free one of the Four Holy Beasts from the bonds placed upon them by the Dark Masters.
Digimon Adventure:[edit]
The Crest of Courage belongs to Yagami Taichi. Like the other Crests in Adventure:, it does not exist in a physical form, and instead appears in Taichi's Digivice:'s screen when Taichi shows the trait the Crest embodies. It first appeared in "Tokyo Digital Crisis".
A giant Crest of Courage, in the same shape as the ones in Digimon Adventure, appeared in the Tree of Knowledge alongside the other seven Crests in "The Mystery Hidden Within the Crests". Wisemon explained that the Crests predated Digimon themselves and were a complete mystery, which led the Chosen Children to separate to answer said mystery. However, while the other Crests pointed the Chosen Children to specific areas, the Crest of Courage gave Taichi a constantly-moving compass, not fixed on any location.
During Valkyrimon's test in "The Crest of Courage", the Botamon that Taichi defended projected the Crest of Courage after Taichi set himself as bait for the three Allomon that had attacked them so the Botamon could run away. Botamon then quickly evolved into Koromon, Agumon and Greymon, and defeated the three Allomon, before devolving into all of said forms, then turned into the Crest of Courage and vanished into light. After Taichi woke up in Valkyrimon's castle, his Digivice: turned orange and projected the Crest of Courage, the last Digivice: to do so.

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 ~New Courage~[edit]
After Holy Angel Castle is overrun by the Virus Digimon from the polyhedron, the badly beaten Lord Holy Angemon tells V-Tamer's Yagami Taichi to go back to his world as the situation has turned too dangerous. Taichi's refusal to give up in spite of said situation causes the Crest of Courage to appear in his eye, which cheers up Lord Holy Angemon and makes him remark that Taichi's courage will bring forth a new courage.
Later on, after Adventure:'s Yagami Taichi and Agumon decide to fight in spite of the latter being defeated as Greymon and unable to evolve any further, the Crest of Courage appears in the eyes of both Taichis. This causes Adventure:'s Taichi's Digivice: to light up with energy. After he calls out that it's time to evolve, a massive Crest of Courage appears in the sky, with great power thanks to the synchronization between both Taichis. Thanks to this, V-Tamer's Taichi realizes that the "new courage" Lord Holy Angemon mentioned was Adventure:'s Taichi. The massive Crest of Courage then evolves Zeromaru and Agumon into Ulforce V-dramon Future Mode and an incomplete War Greymon, respectively, allowing them to easily destroy the polyhedron.

Digimon Adventure[edit]
Yagami Taichi found the Crest of Courage in Episode 20, "Etemon! The Stage Mounting of Evil", inside the cave the Chosen Children and the Koromon Village's Koromon took to escape from Etemon's attack. The Crest was originally a wall inside said cave, but upon being found by the Chosen Children, it shone and shrunk, showing its true form as Taichi's Crest.
