Tailmon is the partner Digimon of Yagami Hikari in Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Adventure tri. and the Digimon Xros Wars manga.

Personality

Due to her experiences from before she meets the Chosen Children, Tailmon is by far the most mature and level-headed of the partner Digimon. She puts her duty to protect above all else, even her own life, and is focused in an emergency. She is perceptive of the situations and dangers that they face, and of the potential consequences, and she is often the one to summarize and rationalize all of this to others, especially the other partner Digimon, as she tends to be a bit bossy toward them.

In peaceful or safe times, she is more relaxed and is content to play around with Hikari and the other partner Digimon, and even to indulge herself a bit. Like Hikari and Takaishi Takeru, Tailmon is especially close friends with Takeru's partner, Patamon. She also has a teasing sense of humor, and sometimes even goes as far as to mock and rile up minor enemies when she or her allies have thwarted them.

Tailmon is the only partner Digimon whose default form is not her Child form (Plotmon), but her Adult form (Tailmon). She attributes this to her having greater self-discipline than the other partner Digimon. She typically only devolves into lower forms than Tailmon in special cases where she has expended significant amounts of energy. For example, after the fight against Venom Vamdemon or after Jogress Evolving into Silphymon, she becomes Plotmon. She has only reverted to her Baby II form, Nyaromon, twice: first in the fight with Raguelmon, JESmon, and Alphamon, and then after the defeat of Ordinemon.

Tailmon's origin is depicted in flashbacks. Shortly after the 1995 Hikarigaoka battle between Greymon and Parrotmon, Homeostasis's servants (Gennai and the others like him) created her Digitama, together with the Digitamas of the other partner Digimon and the Chosen Children's Digivices, Tags and Crests, in a laboratory in the dungeons of what would eventually become Vamdemon's castle. When Piemon's forces assaulted the laboratory, Gennai escaped with the Digivices and Digitama, but a Guardromon's attack caused him to drop Tailmon's Digitama and Digivice, which fell to the ground far below. When she hatched, she misplaced the Digivice and grew up alone. She (as Nyaromon) still knew that she was waiting for "someone" (Hikari), but that someone never came.

When she evolved into her Child form, Plotmon, she decided that she could not just wait for the "someone" anymore and set out on a journey to find them herself. Instead, she found Vamdemon. She became a servant of Vamdemon, who beat her on a daily basis simply because he objected to the look in her eyes (as he later admits, he does this because in that look he sees not just hostility toward him, but the light of hope). Over time, the trauma of both her service to Vamdemon and her loneliness caused her to become hard-hearted and mistrustful and to repress her past, including the identity of the "someone". She eventually evolved into Tailmon and, at some point, Vamdemon inflicted a cross-shaped scar on her left paw (underneath her glove). She would later remark that through all of these experiences, she had never known anybody who accepted her for who she was.

At some point during her service to Vamdemon, she encountered Wizarmon lying exhausted in a desert town. She gave him water and tried to help him recover. The two bonded over their loneliness and how it had hardened their hearts, and Tailmon told him about how she had been waiting and searching for someone. Tailmon totally forgot about this encounter and their conversation, but her actions won Wizarmon's loyalty, and he eventually joined Vamdemon's servants as well purely so he could assist Tailmon.

In August 1999, Vamdemon mounts an invasion of the Real World to hunt for the eight Chosen Child. Tailmon marshals his forces and commands them to enter the gate into the Real World. When the Chosen Children come, she intervenes when both Nanimon and Pico Devimon fail to stop them from following, and she holds them off by using her small size and great speed to confuse them, and by awakening some Devidramon with her Holy Ring. She is the last one to make it through the gate, and she taunts the Chosen Children as it closes behind her.

In the Real World, Tailmon (like Vamdemon's other servants) receives a duplicate of the Crest of Light, to use to detect the eighth Chosen Child. She explores Tokyo, posing as a cat, waiting for the Crest to react. She is present for Mammon's rampage through Hikarigaoka, and reflects that she probably should not have brought Mammon to Tokyo.

The day after Raremon's attack on Tokyo Bay, Tailmon is searching in a park when Hikari, who is looking for Miiko, passes by. Hikari immediately recognizes that Tailmon is not a real cat, despite her attempts to pretend, and asks if she is a "friend of Agumon's". Although the fake Crest still does not react, Tailmon finds her suspicious and suspects that she may be the eighth Chosen Child, and follows her home to kill her (Hikari does not realize this and continues to act friendly to her). However, she is unable to bring herself to go through with it for reasons she cannot quite understand, decides that she does not have enough proof, and runs away. She continues to observe Hikari from afar.

That night, when Wizarmon finds the eighth Chosen Child's Digivice, he begins to suspect that Tailmon is the Child's partner Digimon due to the conversation they had when they first met. He reveals this to her, and although she responds with hostility and mistrust, he tries to get her to remember what she once said about searching for someone, and then forces the issue by appearing before Hikari and presenting the Digivice to Hikari and Tailmon. It glows, confirming Hikari and Tailmon's identities as Chosen Child and Partner Digimon, and Tailmon finally remembers and begins to move past her defensive, angry ways. When Yagami Taichi and Agumon see Hikari with the two Digimon, still believing them to be Vamdemon's minions, they try to stop them, but Hikari and Tailmon both protect each other from Agumon's Baby Flame.

After talking Taichi down, Wizarmon and Tailmon decide that they need to protect Hikari for a while longer by keeping her identity secret, and they leave her Digivice with Taichi while they attempt to take the real Crest back from Vamdemon. However, Vamdemon predicts that someone would try to steal the real Crest and attacks them for betraying him. He concludes that she is the eighth Chosen Child's partner Digimon from both her words and the arrival of Taichi and Metal Greymon to help her fight Vamdemon, and so he takes her captive after Wizarmon is seemingly killed and Metal Greymon runs out of energy.

Vamdemon sets in motion a plan to use Tailmon to identify the eighth Chosen Child, by trapping rounding up the population of the Odaiba area, holding them captive in Tokyo Big Sight, and testing every child against Tailmon with the threat that if she lies to him, he will kill the children.

Eventually, Hikari surrenders herself to protect the other Chosen Children and is brought before Tailmon on the roof of the Fuji TV station. Tailmon tries to lie to protect Hikari, but Vamdemon exposes this lie by tricking Tailmon into fearing for Hikari. Before Vamdemon can kill them, the Chosen Children, along with Wizarmon, intervene and attempt to both distract him and give Hikari her Digivice and Crest. Their attacks do nothing, and Vamdemon attempts to destroy Hikari and Tailmon with a Night Raid attack, but Wizarmon shields them with his body and takes the entire attack. His death activates Hikari's Crest of Light and evolves Tailmon into Angewomon, who immobilizes Vamdemon with Saint Air and destroys his body with a Holy Arrow channeling the power of all of the other partner Digimon's attacks.

When Vamdemon is resurrected as Venom Vamdemon, she recruits Patamon to assist her in reinforcing Agumon and Gabumon to fight Venom Vamdemon, but instructs the other partner Digimon to remain behind and rest for the time being. However, nobody is able to harm him at all. Izumi Kōshirō correctly interprets the prophecy emailed to him by Gennai, which had predicted Vamdemon's resurrection, as providing a way to fight back, and in accordance with it, Angewomon fires an arrow of light at Taichi (the "loved one of she who Angewomon is meant to protect"), which triggers the Warp Evolution of Agumon into War Greymon. After the battle, she temporarily devolves further into her Plotmon form due to the immense exertion of unlocking Agumon's Warp Evolution.

Plotmon/Tailmon and Hikari accompany the Chosen Children back to the Digital World and are present for fights with all four of the Dark Masters. As Angewomon, she gets into a catfight with her rival, Lady Devimon. Despite having the help of two other Perfect-level Digimon (Atlur Kabuterimon and Andromon) and two Adult-level Digimon (Angemon and Birdramon) and enjoying a type advantage over Ladydevimon, Angewomon struggles against Lady Devimon, who manages to get under Angewomon's skin and goad her into a reckless melee while rejecting the help of her allies. Lady Devimon defeats Angewomon in a slapping, hair-pulling catfight with a devastating roundhouse kick that knocks Angewomon out of the sky. Lady Devimon then prepares to finish Angewomon off with her Darkness Spear. However, Atlur Kabuterimon blocks the attack at the last moment with his hard carapace, saving Angewomon. The two then manage to defeat Lady Devimon together, with Angewomon delivering the final blow with her Heaven's Charm.

When Piemon begins turning the group into keychains, Angewomon and Garudamon attempt to hold off Piemon to give Hikari, Takaishi Takeru, Takenouchi Sora, Patamon and Gomamon time to escape, but Piemon easily overwhelms the two and, after pinning her to the wall with his Trump Swords, turns Angewomon into a keychain as well. She is later restored, together with the others, by Holy Angemon's Holy Disinfection, and participates in the final fight between the reunited group and Tachikawa Mimi's recruits against Piemon and his forces.

When the group are taken into Apocalymon's dimension and Apocalymon breaks down their data, Tailmon reflects on how they cannot accept defeat, as that would mean that her having finally found Hikari would be in vain. This thought helps inspire them, along with the rest of the group, to come to their decision to keep going and to stop Apocalymon, which causes the power of the Crests to react within them. They all evolve into their strongest forms and escape from the world of data to fight Apocalymon.

After Apocalymon's defeat, the group learns that they need to return to the Real World before the gate to the Digital World permanently closes. Hikari gives Tailmon her whistle as a token to remember her by.

Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!

When Gennai contacts Taichi and Kōshirō by computer to recruit them to help fight Keramon, Tailmon is present along with the other partner Digimon.

Digimon Adventure 02

In 2002, during an early Digimon Kaiser attack, Tailmon discovers that her Holy Ring is able to defuse an Evil Ring before it can possess her. However, she is immediately attacked by a Unimon under the Kaiser's control, who steps on her Holy Ring and forces her to flee without it. Because of the loss of the Holy Ring, she estimates that she has lost half of her power. She later gathers with Taichi, Agumon and Patamon in the cave where the Digimental of Courage is, and is reunited with Hikari when she, Takeru, and Motomiya Daisuke come to the Digital World in response to Taichi's distress call.

The next day, the Chosen Children go home again following a second expedition into the Digital World, Tailmon follows them to the Real World, as do the other partner Digimon of Daisuke's group. From this point on, she stays in the Real World with Hikari except when they go on missions into the Digital World.

When the group discover the Digimentals of Hope and Light on another expedition, Tailmon gains the ability to use the Digimental of Light with Hikari's new D-3 to Armor Evolve into Nefertimon.

When Hikari begins feeling the call of the Dark Ocean, Tailmon senses that something is not right with her. She later witnesses Hikari being taken into the Dark Ocean but is unable to follow her. She, Takeru, and Patamon begin searching for a way to get her back, and enter the Dark Ocean as well when their concern for Hikari, and Hikari's desire for help, open the gate. When Pegasmon destroys a Dark Tower during their fight with the Digimon Kaiser's Airdramon, a beam of light appears from the sky, and Tailmon uses it to temporarily Super Evolve into Angewomon again. Angewomon and Pegasmon destroy the Airdramon, and Angewomon's light frees the Dark Ocean's Hangyomon population from the Evil Spirals, revealing their true forms. When they threaten to abduct Hikari to take her as their bride, Angewomon warns them off with a blast of light. The group takes a beam of light out back into the Digital World.

A mission into the Digital World to destroy Dark Towers takes the Chosen Children through some woods which Tailmon recognizes as the place where she lost her Holy Ring. However, it is no longer there, and Hikari, Tailmon, Ichijouji Ken, Inoue Miyako and their Digimon all become trapped in a mysterious dark dimension that has the same effects on Hikari and Ken as the Dark Ocean. She is appreciative of Miyako's efforts to find the Holy Ring, even when she causes them to fall down a crevasse chasing what turns out to be a broken Evil Ring. She and Hawkmon help Hikari and Miyako out of the pit by lowering down vines for them. When Blossomon attacks, Miyako and Hikari come to an understanding that triggers Tailmon and Aquilamon's Jogress Evolution into Silphymon.

During the invasion of Demon Corps, Angewomon gets into yet another hair-pulling, slapping catfight with Lady Devimon. The rivals again exchange insults, with Lady Devimon calling Angewomon "blondie" and Angewomon referring to Lady Devimon as "witch." The two grapple fiercely in the air, with Lady Devimon overpowering Angewomon by twisting both of Angewomon's arms against its sides.

Tailmon is the second person, after Black War Greymon, to recognize the true identity of the force that possesses Oikawa Yukio. On December 31 2002, when it reveals itself in the world of dreams and explains how it had manipulated events to that point, including using Tailmon's Holy Ring as the basis for the Evil Rings, Tailmon declares that she recognizes it as Vamdemon. Although she is vocally determined to defeat him again, Hikari and the Chosen Children (except Daisuke) lose their nerve after they witness Belial Vamdemon's gruesome destruction of Archnemon and Mummymon.

When Belial Vamdemon uses his Mind Illusion, Tailmon and Hikari are trapped together in Hikari's fantasy of a peaceful world where humans and Digimon can play together. Tailmon immediately recognizes that none of it is real, and convinces Hikari to see through the illusion, and Lighdramon brings them back to reality to face Belial Vamdemon. Hikari and Tailmon use the nature of the world of dreams to make the impossible happen, and Tailmon's Angewomon and Nefertimon forms both appear at once and hit Belial Vamdemon with an Rosetta Stone/Holy Arrow combination attack. Silphymon also manifests, along with all of the evolved forms of all of the partner Digimon, to attack Belial Vamdemon together. However, when Belial Vamdemon is blasted back into the Digital World, reality takes over again, and of Tailmon's forms, only Silphymon remains.

Silphymon is present for the gathering of all the Chosen Children and the final destruction of Belial Vamdemon. When she devolves after the battle, Gennai approaches her and returns her Holy Ring, which he had been using to make Jogress Evolution possible.

Digimon Adventure 02: Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!! Supreme Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals

Tailmon accompanies Hikari, Takeru and Patamon on a tour of New York City with Mimi. They witness Mimi's disappearance due to Chocomon, and witness a fight between Chocomon, Wallace and Gummymon. Following a phone conversation that Patamon overhears, they take a train to Summer Memory in Colorado, and although the train is halted by the appearance of Chocomon and the disappearance of everyone on it other than those four, they arrive at Summer Memory in time to assist Daisuke, Wallace, and the others in fighting Chocomon (who has evolved into Cherubimon (Vice)). She (as Angewomon) and Angemon wound Cherubimon, but when Cherubimon's darkness begins to leak out and affect the world around them, she Ultimate Evolves into Holydramon in the hope that doing so will end the danger. Although Cherubimon immediately attacks them and forces them to devolve, she and Patamon's Ultimate form, Seraphimon, release the Digimentals of Miracles and Fate for Daisuke and Wallace to use.

Digimon Adventure 02: Diablomon Strikes Back

In 2003, Kōshirō recruits Hikari and Tailmon, along with the other Chosen Children, to assist with capturing the Kuramon that Diablomon has sent into Tokyo. However, they, along with Takeru and Patamon decide to enter the Internet as well to reinforce Taichi, Ishida Yamato, and Omegamon in their fight with Diablomon. As Angewomon, she and Angemon pin Diablomon down to give Omegamon an opening to destroy it. However, the gates back to the Real World close behind the Kuramon as they flee the scene of the fight. Angewomon promises to help them escape.

Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time

Tailmon is among the heroes from other worlds who are recruited by the Old Clock Shop Man to help stop Quartzmon and DigiQuartz. As Angewomon, she fights together with Angemon and Justimon.

Tailmon and the other partner Digimon had become isolated from their partners for a year, following the closure of the Digital Gates due to the distortions. However, when the infected Kuwagamon rampages through Tokyo, the partner Digimon are all called into the Digital World to assist, and Hikari and Tailmon are reunited at Haneda Airport. Tailmon and Angemon team up to destroy one of the Kuwagamon.

Following the battle at Haneda, Tailmon takes up residence on a server set up by Kōshirō with the other partner Digimon, and participates in patrols to protect the city from more infected Digimon. When Alphamon appears in the area to capture Meicoomon, Tailmon attempts to fight him, but does no damage at all and is easily knocked out of the fight.

After Meicoomon's "infection" and disapperance, Tailmon, like the other partner Digimon, is confined to Kōshirō's server as a precaution due to the risk of infection, while he tries to decontaminate and figure out what is happening. This is in vain, since some of the partner Digimon have already begun to carry and spread it. At Gabumon's suggestion, the partner Digimon sneak out of the server to give Kōshirō some peace and quiet while he works. Although Tailmon is initially skeptical of doing this due to the risk of infection, she concedes that it there is no point staying in the office once Patamon admits that he is already infected.

While they are out, Homeostasis (possessing Hikari) appears to them, and Tailmon immediately recognizes that it is not Hikari speaking. Homeostasis warns them about the threat that the infection and Meicoomon pose to the structure underlying the Real and Digital Worlds, and that there is only one way to resolve it. Himekawa arrives as Homeostasis lets go of Hikari, tells them about the Reboot as the "only one way", then takes Hikari to the hospital. As she then explains to the other partner Digimon, Tailmon realizes that one of the consequences of a Reboot would be that they would all totally lose their memories. She agrees with them that it would be devastating to them, and that the worst part is that they wouldn't even know they had lost their memories, but warns them that they must be prepared to make that sacrifice if it means protecting the Real World.

When the partner Digimon split up, Hikari goes to find Tailmon, and asks her if they can go shopping and spend the afternoon together. They take photos together in a photo booth and share an ice cream.

Later, Meicoomon re-emerges at Tokyo Big Sight and, when the other partner Digimon attempt to pin Meicoomon down, mutates into Meicrackmon: Vicious Mode. Tailmon Super Evolves into Angewomon to help the others try and keep her inside the distortion. When the infection overtakes Angemon, he begins attacking Angewomon, disrupting their attempts to trap Meicrackmon. Angewomon herself soon begins experiencing symptoms of the infection, and is soon overtaken, along with the other partner Digimon except Agumon and Tentomon. The infected Digimon interfere with the remaining uninfected Digimon's efforts to both catch Meicrackmon and put any of the infected Digimon in Kōshirō's backup cube. Eventually, Tentomon (as Herakle Kabuterimon) is the only one left, and Angewomon gangs up on him along with the other infected partner Digimon and force him and Meicrackmon out of the distortion. Herakle Kabuterimon begs them to "open their eyes", and she and the others come to their senses, embrace one last time, and re-enter the distortion together as the Reboot countdown reaches zero.

After the Reboot, Tailmon is reborn as Nyaromon, and is still friends with the other seven post-Reboot partner Digimon. She also still has Hikari's whistle. When the Chosen Children arrive in the post-Reboot Digital World, Nyaromon is squabbling with Tokomon, who is playing with the whistle. Even though Nyaromon has no memory of Hikari, she does recognize her scent as the same scent she smells on the whistle, which she finds calming. The two quickly start bonding and playing together again, and Nyaromon, like the other partner Digimon, soon evolves back into Plotmon.

That night, a Mugendramon attack separates the Chosen Children, and Hikari, Plotmon, Taichi, and Gabumon are stranded in a forest. While trying to make Taichi feel better, Hikari points out that the Reboot has had some positive effects, such as Plotmon being better off for no longer having any of the trauma from her experiences with Vamdemon, and advocates for accepting the Digimon as they are now.

When the group gets back together, they come under attack from the Mysterious Man and Mugendramon. Plotmon and Hikari escape one way with Taichi, Yamato, and their Digimon, but are attacked by a Metal Seadramon, who sends them all into the sea. Taichi, Yamato, and their Digimon regain the ability to evolve to Ultimate to fight Metal Seadramon, and although they destroy it, their attacks leave a massive chunk of ice hurtling toward Hikari. In order to protect her, Plotmon evolves into Tailmon and destroys it with a Neko Punch. The six regroup with the others, but as they do, Meicrackmon: Vicious Mode appears again.

Tailmon, Hikari, and the rest of the group are soon returned to the Real World after the Digital World begins rejecting them. After spending the night at their high school, they detect the re-appearance of Meicrackmon and attempt to stop her, but the situation turns into a four-way fight between Meicrackmon's further mutated form Raguelmon, the partner Digimon, JESmon, and Alphamon. Tailmon attempts to assist in her Angewomon form, but she, like all the other partner Digimon except Omegamon, is knocked out of the fight when clashing attacks from Alphamon and JESmon create a massive explosion, and reverts all the way back to Nyaromon. The battle ends with a defeat for both Raguelmon and the Chosen Children, and with the disappearance of Taichi and Nishijima Daigo.

The loss of Taichi pushes Hikari over the edge, and she is overcome with intense negative feelings that trigger Nyaromon into Dark Evolving into Ofanimon: Falldown Mode. Ofanimon creates a powerful dark distortion that awakens Raguelmon and triggers a fusion between the two, creating Ordinemon. The creation of Ordinemon triggers the beginning of the collapse of the harmony between the Real and Digital Worlds and the destruction of everything, "switching" the Digimon scattered across the real world to start moving.

Ordinemon realizes in Tokyo Bay and rains dark energy that eats away at whatever it touches. Homeostasis concludes that it is an existential threat that must be stopped at any cost, and that since it is too powerful to be defeated, there is no other choice but to perform a Reboot of the Real World. Both the Chosen Children and the Japanese Self-Defense Force attempt to engage it, but fail to do any damage whatsoever and are easily taken out. However, as Hackmon observes, it still has some level of consciousness left as it recognizes the partner Digimon, and even begins approaching Mochizuki Meiko when it notices her.

Meanwhile, while she, Takeru, and Holy Angemon are being attacked by a Devimon, Hikari has a vision where Tailmon and Meicoomon appears to her, although Meicoomon quickly leaves. Tailmon begins to disappear, and as she does, she warns Hikari about how much Meicoomon is suffering and wants all of this to stop, and gives her a cryptic message about how "all the light is in Meicoomon". Hikari and Takeru pass the message onto Kōshirō, who determines that Meicoomon's body contains the pre-Reboot memory data for all Digimon, and that she also has a password-protected archive that contains all of her own positive memories.

With Meiko's assistance, he unlocks this data in an attempt to stabilize Ordinemon's erratic behavior. The release and restoration of the memory data also awakens Tailmon inside Ordinemon, and she tries and fails to escape Ordinemon. However, it does not succeed in stabilizing Ordinemon, who begins to dissociate and attempts to flee to the Digital World. It is stopped by JESmon, who cleaves off one of its wings, freeing Tailmon from the Ordinemon form.

Yggdrasill uses the loss of Tailmon as an opportunity to fill in the remaining empty space in Ordinemon itself, and it continues to attack. When Taichi returns and rallies the Chosen Children back into battle, Tailmon Ultimate Evolves into Holydramon to assist in stopping Ordinemon. The partner Digimon gain the upper hand against Ordinemon, and then fuse together with Omegamon to create Omegamon: Merciful Mode, who destroys Ordinemon and ends Meicoomon's suffering. After the battle, Omegamon: Merciful Mode splits back into Tailmon and the other partner Digimon, devolved into their Baby II forms.

Tailmon and the other partner Digimon remain in the Real World, and some time later are present for a phone call between Taichi and Meiko, who has moved back to Tottori.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna

Tailmon is still in Tokyo, where she and some of the other Chosen Children and partner Digimon work together to send Digimon who have realized in the city back to the Digital World.

Hikari and Tailmon are traveling together on a train when Eosmon steals Hikari's consciousness and takes it to Never-Land. Tailmon then completely disappears from the Real World, but continues to exist in Never-Land.

When Taichi and Yamato enter Never-Land, Menoa Bellucci controls the Chosen Children and partner Digimon that she has taken there, including Tailmon and Hikari (who exists in Never-Land as her eight-year-old self), into fighting them. Tailmon, along with some other partner Digimon, pins Taichi down, but Taichi struggles his way through and grabs and blows Hikari's whistle, snapping the Chosen Children and their Digimon out of it. She Super Evolves into Angewomon and takes on Eosmon, together with the other partner Digimon. She, with the others, witnesses Taichi, Yamato, Agumon -Yuki no Kizuna- and Gabumon -Yujo no Kizuna- defeating Eosmon, and all of the memories of Menoa's time with Morphomon that are then unleashed.

After the battle, Tailmon and Hikari are returned to the Real World.

Digimon Adventure: Anode Tamer & Cathode Tamer

Before the events of the game, the Chosen Children and their Partner Digimon were kidnapped by Millenniumon.

After Akiyama Ryo defeated Vamdemon, Ishida Yamato, Kido Jo, Yagami Hikari, Gabumon, Gomamon and Tailmon were freed. The Chosen Children then returned to their world, while their Partner Digimon joined Ryo to rescue the others.

Digimon World: Digital Card Arena

Tailmon is Yagami Hikari's partner. She first appears in Sky City's Battle Cafe, where she cryptically says that the player can do something, but not explain what, before asking him if he's seen anything odd amongst the previous Cities. Once the player tells her that he beat the Digimon Kaiser who was causing it, but also heard about "Him" and the "Sealed Darkness", Tailmon reacts at the latter, then explains that her partner has had bad dreams lately and is easily affected by evil energy due to her unique ability. Since Hikari is currently suffering, she can't leave Sky City despite wanting to investigate it herself, then asks the player to do it himself should he beat her at her Arena.

Tailmon serves as the Battle Master of Sky City's Battle Arena. Before battling her, she'll ask the player once again to go to Sage Tower for Hikari's sake, but first he must defeat her. Tailmon uses the Cat Attack deck, a Green/Nature deck with 3 attack, 2 defense and 3 evolution speed, that specializes in straight-forward attacks. Upon defeating her, she'll give the player the Passcode to Steep Road.

After clearing Pyramid City's Battle Arena, Tailmon's portrait in the Battle Cafe will change, with her battle portrait now showing her Holy Ring. Talking to her, she'll tell the player that she has learned from her experiences and opened an Extra Arena for her evolved levels. Said evolved levels are:

• Tailmon serves as the first opponent in the first Extra Arena, and now plays the Fate's Guidance deck, a Green/Nature deck with 3 attack, 4 defense and 3 evolution speed that's well-balanced, divine, and features Tailmon. Upon being defeated, she acknowledges she's still no match for the player and his incredible power, but remarks that their battle was just a warm-up, and that she'll now evolve into Nefertimon with her Digimental of Light for a much harder fight.
• Nefertimon is the second opponent in the first Extra Arena and the second in the second. After evolving, she warns the player not to underestimate her power of light, as it is well beyond anything he could imagine. She also tells him to join her for the revolution of light is near. Nefertimon plays the God Beast deck, a Green/Nature deck with 3 attack, 3 defense and 4 evolution speed that moves at its own pace and is well-balanced. After being defeated, she tells the player to use his power to establish the new era and follow his destiny, though first he must win the following battle, where she'll predict his future with the Digimental of Sincerity.
• Tylomon is the last opponent of the first Extra Arena, the second from the second, and the first from the third. After evolving from Nefertimon for the first time, she tells the player that the Digimental of Sincerity does not lie, and everything and everyone shows their true form before her. As such, she'll have to accept the player's power as real if he wins, but if he doesn't, she'll blast him into darkness. Tylomon plays the Vortex of Light deck, a Blue/Water and Green/Nature deck with 3 attack, 4 defense and 3 evolution speed focused on defense. After being defeated, Tylomon says she has seen the player's power, and that he still has more inside of him he has not yet discovered. From the second Arena onwards, she follows this by saying that his trials are not yet over, because she'll evolve to her Perfect form, Angewomon. In the second Extra Arena, she says it is to show him the light while in the third, it's instead to help him take his next step.
• Angewomon is the last opponent of the second Extra Arena and the second of the third. Upon evolving, she vows to put an end to her battle with the player and give it everything she has. She then warns the player not to take her lightly because she's a woman, and that he must leave if he disagrees. Angewomon plays the Sparkling Holy Nymph deck, a Green/Nature deck with 3 attack, 3 defense and 4 evolution speed, that's divine and full of cool cards. Upon being defeated, she acknowledges the player's seriousness. In the third Extra Arena, she adds that it's finally time for her to evolve into Holydramon, and that will be their last battle.
• Holydramon is the last opponent of the third Extra Arena. Upon evolving, she tells the player she can't believe how far they've come, and that the final holy battle is about to begin and they should do their best in it. Holydramon plays the Holy Cloud-Riding Dragon deck, a Green/Nature deck with 3 attack, 5 defense and 4 evolution speed that has high Recovery power. Upon being defeated, she says she's satisfied with the outcome because they both did their best, then thanks the player as she could not have evolved to her current level without his help. She then assumes the player will continue his journey in search for more battles, and asks him to stop and see her whenever he can.

Digimon Adventure

Tailmon first appeared in Episode 31, "Vamdemon, the Castle of Darkness", inside Vamdemon Castle, as one of Vamdemon's servants, where she laughed and insulted Pico Devimon and the soldiers he had recruited for Vamdemon's cause. This annoyed Pico Devimon, but before the situation could escalate, Vamdemon stopped them and asked Tailmon if she had found useful soldiers, which Tailmon did.

Later, as the Chosen Children invaded the castle, Vamdemon proclaimed to his servants (which included Tailmon, Pico Devimon and Nanimon) that it was time to depart to kill the eighth Chosen Child. With the chant "Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius!", Vamdemon opened a gigantic gate through which they attempted to leave. However, before they could, the Chosen Children arrived. Vamdemon did not care, however, as they were too late. He refused to stay and ordered Pico Devimon to take care of the Chosen Children, and he then passed the order to Nanimon, who fought the Chosen Children alongside a Scumon, a Tyumon and a Vegimon, though they were all easily defeated, and afterwards he surrendered. He excused himself in saying that retreating is winning in its own way, then ran away alongside his students, leaving Pico Devimon to face the Chosen Children and their Adult-level Partners alone. Takaishi Takeru wanted them to get rid of Pico Devimon fast, and Pico Devimon decided to fight back to no avail. Realizing the gate was closing, Takenouchi Sora and Yagami Taichi told the rest to hurry up, but Tailmon then took to the battlefield herself. Kido Jo underestimated her due to her small size. He was quickly proven wrong, as Tailmon easily beat the Partner Digimon with her Neko Kick and Neko Punch attacks. The Chosen Children nonetheless attempted to get to the gate, but Tailmon sent two Devidramon after them. After defeating them, the Chosen Children attempted to go into the gate again, but then Tailmon sent four more Devidramon after them, buying Tailmon enough time to leave through the gate and for it to close.

On top of a building, Vamdemon gave Pico Devimon and Tailmon copies of the eighth Chosen Child's Tag and Crest in Episode 34, "Mammon, the Great Clash at Hikarigaoka!", with the original in his possession. Despite being copies, they would react if they were close to the eighth Chosen Child.

Vamdemon met with Pico Devimon and Tailmon once again in Episode 43, "Tokyo Tower is Hot! Death Meramon", deciding to make the building their base, then sent his subordinates to find the eighth Chosen Child once again. Afterwards, Tailmon tried to leave but was stopped by Pico Devimon, who said he had the right to search their area as he was the one that found a signal of the eighth Chosen Child. Tailmon asked if he really thought they'd stay in one place though Pico Devimon mocked her for it. Tailmon remembered how even as her Child level, Plotmon, Vamdemon worked her to the bone and would beat her up for any mistakes because he didn't like her eyes, though she was born with them, which led to realize she didn't remember where she was born or what she did before she met Vamdemon. She was snapped out of her thoughts by Wizarmon, who asked her if she was reminscing on old times which annoyed Tailmon who realized he had read her mind. Tailmon then left to search for the eighth Child.

Tailmon then went to outside the apartment complex, where she pointed out the humans around were a peaceful lot. Yagami Hikari then arrived, still looking for Miiko. She asked Tailmon if she was Agumon's friend, but Tailmon merely ran away without answering her, wondering if Hikari was the eighth Chosen Child as she knew about Agumon. Regardless, she was clearly not normal and thus was best disposed of. However, Hikari realized she was tailing her, so Tailmon ran away, with Hikari merely asking her if she'd come back. Tailmon thought to herself that there was no evidence that she was the eighth Child yet she gave her a feeling she couldn't understand.

At night, outside Taichi and Hikari's apartment in Episode 45, "The Bond of Destiny! Tailmon", Wizarmon showed Tailmon the Digivice he found. He pointed out that the eighth Child wasn't around it, but should be inside Tailmon's heart and she shouldn't be afraid of recovering her memories. Wizarmon then remembered how he had no friends and had always travelled alone before meeting Tailmon, how he thought his life would come to an unsatisfying end before she saved him from his loneliness, and how back then, she had told him that she had always been waiting for someone. Tailmon, however, had no recollection about any of this and angrily asked who she had been waiting for. To answer said question, Wizarmon took her to Hikari, who was still looking for Miiko. Wizarmon introduced himself to Hikari, and she recognized Tailmon. Wizarmon then gave her the Digivice, which reacted to Hikari, proving her as the eighth Chosen Child. Tailmon then assked who was her Partner Digimon, and Wizarmon once again begged her to remember who she was waiting for. Tailmon remembered how, ever since she was Nyaromon, she was waiting for someone who never came, then after she evolved into Plotmon, decided not to wait anymore and left on a journey to search for them instead, but instead she was found by Vamdemon, which started her days of despair which made her forget she was searching for someone. Hikari did not understand what an eighth Chosen Child was, and then Taichi and Agumon arrived. Wizarmon begged them to listen, but Taichi saw them only as dangerous enemies and Agumon shot a Baby Flame at them. Tailmon took the hit for Hikari, but wasn't hurt by it. Taichi was shocked at this, and Wizarmon wondered if she had recovered her memories. Tailmon confirmed she did, how she had been waiting for Hikari, the eighth Chosen Child. Taichi accepted this, but refused to accept Wizarmon as her friend. Wizarmon didn't care, however, and merely asked him to take Hikari's Digivice, as it would be dangerous if Vamdemon found out about Hikari and Tailmon. Taichi accepted the task and asked what Wizarmon would do from there on. Wizarmon knew they needed the real Crest of Light, so Tailmon and he would go and retrieve it. Taichi asked where Vamdemon's base was so they could go as well but Wizarmon refused. Tailmon and Wizarmon then left, and Hikari could only scream at the sky, hoping Tailmon would come back.

Wizarmon and Tailmon returned to Vamdemon's base to recover the true Crest of Light. A Bakemon refused them entrance as the base was to be closed until Vamdemon returned. Wizarmon lied, saying they were there to switch out the guard, then brainwashed Bakemon into believing it, who then left. Wizarmon then found the Crest, but Vamdemon was there and not out until dawn as they thought. Vamdemon asked them if they had allied with the Chosen Children and disparaged Tailmon's eyes, as he always felt they were like daggers pointed his way. They then fought, with Vamdemon easily beating the duo. During this battle, Tailmon temporarily joins the player's party but is uncontrollable, instead using her Neko Punch, Neko Kick and Neko Scratch moves at will. Vamdemon decided to kill Wizarmon first, but Tailmon challenged him instead, and Vamdemon once again fixated on her eyes, which shone with the light of hope that believed in dreams, which allowed Tailmon to get to where she was today, and she'd make those dreams come true and recover her true self by beating Vamdemon, which made him realize she was the eighth Partner Digimon. With this knowledge, he used his Night Raid on Wizarmon, throwing him into a river. Taichi and Greymon then arrived to help Tailmon, though Vamdemon wasn't intimidated by them and easily beat Greymon, who then evolved into Metal Greymon, though it made no difference. Vamdemon took Taichi's arrival as confirmation that Tailmon was indeed the eighth Digimon, though Tailmon refused it. Vamdemon decided to use her as bait for the eighth Chosen Child, replacing the Crest of Light Wizarmon took, then left with Tailmon.
